Feeding & Watering

When deciding who to hire to take care of your cats, you’ll want to find someone who has a true passion for them. This is extremely important when it comes to feeding someone else’s cat without interrupting its usual schedule. As every cat owner knows, cats are very particular creatures. They’re able to roll with the punches and adapt to change, but that doesn’t mean they like to!

Leaving for a couple of days may be simple to us, but for cats watching their best friend walk out the door isn’t easy. This change can cause them to act erratically and go on hunger strikes. Sometimes, cats take this as a ticket to cause all the mischief they’d like by overeating and knocking over their water bowl. Maybe your cat falls smack dab in the middle. Still, still nice to know someone can be there to feed them on their usual schedule and keep it business as usual in you and your cats home.

Litter Box Cleaning

We all know the importance of keeping your cats litter box cleaned on a daily basis. However, sometimes in life you have to make sacrifices or make time for yourself to just getaway. When this happens, your cat will still need to use the bathroom so we step in during our daily visits to make sure their litter box is clean and taken care of.

There’s nothing worse than coming home to a stinky litter box, and believe me, cat’s hate it 14 times as much as we do. 14 seems oughly specific, you may ask? Well did you know that cats have a sense of smell 14 times stronger than humans? That’s every reason you need to hire a cat sitter with Comforted Kitty to make sure that box is cleaned once a day and replaced on a regular basis.

Medication Administration

Because our cat sitters are able to help with medications, your cats necesities don’t have to be the reason they get put in a boarding home (that’s anything but a home). We are happy to talk with you about your cat’s medications as well as any special diets and unique needs. Our goal is to not just care for your cats but also make them feel like royalty!

While pet sitters watch dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, emus, et., our sitters focus on cats. Just cats. That means they know how to cater to all of your cat’s individual needs to keep them healthy and happy while you’re away.

Socialization & Playtime

If your like us, you’ve wondered what your cat is up to while you’re away for extended periods of time. This wonder can turn into a twinge of anxiety when you think about how much your cat misses you. Now, there’s no way to replicate the bond you feel with your cat, but your cat sitter can do their best and come with a couple of tricks up their sleeves to make sure your cat is happy and well socialized in your absence.

When we visit for our in-person meeting, we’ll ask specific questions concerning whether or not your cat is social. If so, we’ll discuss ways we can make your cat’s day while we visit. We are cat-people in the nicest sense meaning we know how to treat cats with compassion & attention.

Household Tasks

While our cat sitters will spend the majority of their time caring for your cats, they can also complete basic home care tasks. That means you won’t have to worry about finding someone else to water your plants, bring in your mail, and take out your trash.

Here’s how we can help with household tasks:

    • Home Security: Adjusting lights, shades, windows, and other home fixtures and also, assuring that the front door is secured.
    • Mail Retrieval: A telltale sign to burglars that nobody’s home is a mailbox stuffed full of mail. We’ll pick up your mail and set it somewhere safe inside your home.
    • Plant Watering: We can do minor plant watering to ensure your second pets don’t go dehydrated for long.
    • Trash Bin Retrieval: Have a trash can full of trash that needs to go out or come back in from the curb? Don’t worry; you don’t have to plan your vacation around trash day anymore.

First Time Hiring a Cat Sitter?

Why should I use your cat sitting and cat care in-home services? What makes The Comforted Kitty better than my friend, neighbor, other local pet sitting companies, or the tech apps (Wag, Rover, etc.)?

YouTube video

At The Comforted Kitty, LLC, we believe that your cat sitter — the person caring for your cat while you are away on vacation — should be a person who is reliable, responsive, and responsible. But all too often, well-intentioned family, friends, and neighbors (who might seem like an affordable and trustworthy option) actually fall short in these areas. Simply put, they might lack the commitment that comes with a contractual obligation. We bring that to every job—along with our love of your feline furry friends (and babies!).

We take great pride in our professional cat sitting and cat care policies and procedures that allow us to serve as the always-dependable option whenever a client chooses to go on a well-deserved vacation.
For example, we offer a convenient phone app that allows you to receive daily visit updates and pictures of your cat when we visit your home, while also allowing you to communicate directly with your sitter. You can also use the app to request cat sitting services and pay your bill anytime, anywhere.

Secondly, we are passionate about cats—so much so that cats are the only pet we cater to in this business! We don’t care for dogs, birds, horses, lizards, and “also cats.” By exclusively serving cats, it allows us to focus all of our experience on providing nothing but the absolute highest quality in-home cat care available. And as a result, countless returning clients comment to us that their cat was more relaxed — and themselves were more relaxed too — when they returned home, than in the past when they had a friend, family member, neighbor, or dog sitter care for their cat. Our dozens of exceptional five-star reviews on Yelp, Google, and Facebook attest to this!

Finally, unlike the new and trendy dog walking and pet sitting apps that are part of our modern “gig economy”… all of our partner cat-care professionals are background-checked and undergo a very selective application process. Moreover, all of our Bay Area and Las Vegas cat sitters are all bonded and insured. Additionally, you will always get to meet your assigned cat sitter beforehand so that you can be sure they are a good fit for you, and especially, your cat. At The Comforted Kitty cat sitting and in-home cat care, we are all about developing solid and long-lasting relationships with our clients. Such a relationship can only be built on a solid foundation of trust and transparency.

Will I get to meet my sitter beforehand?

Absolutely! In fact, we require an initial consultation meet-and-greet with you as a new client so they can come over to your home, helping to see if they are a good fit for you—and especially your cat. It also is an opportunity for the sitter to familiarize themselves with the entire visit cat care routine, retrieve your house keys, and ask you any questions or concerns they have so that they are totally prepared for the sittings. This meeting has a $15 fee.

You can learn much more about our sitters here

Do you really stay for the whole visit length?
Absolutely! Unlike many other pet sitting companies, your sitter will not leave early because your cat is hiding or “just isn’t interested” in them. Your sitter loves developing relationships with our clients’ cats and know that not every cat we care for will immediately open up to us. It takes time to earn the trust of a cat and we want to be there when they decide to open
I am worried about giving a person access to my home. What happens if your sitter injures my cat or damages my property?
We take our responsibility for your cat care — and for your property — very seriously. We carry an industry-leading and expansive commercial liability insurance and bonding policy specific to the pet sitting industry that covers ALL of our cat sitters. This is something you won’t get with others—even family, friends, or neighbors! Furthermore, the insurance covers all of the following as a result of our sitter’s negligence or willful misconduct: injury or loss of your cat, limited emergency veterinary care, property damage to your home, and bodily injury of the pet sitter. Additionally, the bonding policy covers theft of your property as a result of the negligence of the sitter (such as losing your house keys or leaving a window or door open or unlocked that leads to a burglary) or dishonest act of the sitter. We are proud to have this coverage in place so that we are held to the highest accountability for our actions in your home and with your cat. We are more than happy to furnish to you upon request certificate of proof of this coverage.
What are the benefits of using a pet sitter or dedicated cat sitter as compared to boarding my pets?

YouTube video

Cats LOVE to stay in their own home. They attach to their space (especially by scent) as though they are “married” to your home. Keeping their usual daily routine intact is paramount to their psychological wellbeing. Don’t believe us? Spend a day observing your cat and you’ll notice they do they same things around the same time of day, EVERY day.

Boarding your cat stresses them out tremendously. They endure unnecessary travel trauma in the dreaded carrier just get to the facility. They are then put into a small cage or “hotel” room where they reside almost the entire day. Sounds cozy, right? The stress triggers at these facilities can manifest anxiety disorders with your cat, such as decreased appetite, diarrhea, obsessive fur grooming, and other behavioral problems. They also are exposed to fleas, worms, and other parasites that other animals at the facility may have. Then, they must use a “rental” litter box that is unrecognizable for them by scent. And when you pick them up, they will be miserable and likely stay that way for the next few hours or longer when back home.

On the other hand, with drop-in cat sitting visits in your home, your cat gets to stay in their familiar, comforting, environment. They can play with their favorite toys, sleep in their favorite bed, and soak up the sun in their favorite sunny window spot. They also get to use their usual litter box—something that is much more important than one would think! The icing on the cake is that they get total cat care that is tailored exactly to their tastes and desires. There is no competing with other foreign cats in the home. You get to meet the person who will be exclusively caring for your cat and they will provide to you daily visit updates with pictures of your cat too. Plus, you get the added benefit of having someone who will be there to keep an eye on your home and property, giving it a lived in appearance and taking care of such things as mail retrieval, plant watering, and adjusting the lights and shades. The bottom line is that you will be able to relax on your vacation, having the peace of mind that your cat is comfortable at home. Best of all, you get to come home to a kitty that is happy and excited to greet you at the door!

How will I know how my cat is doing while I’m on vacation?
We totally understand how difficult it is to be away from your beloved feline family member and wonder how they are managing with you away from home! That is why we always send you a detailed daily visit update to let you know how your cat is doing (appetite, mood, energy level), what they enjoyed doing that day (playtime, brushing, petting), the status of your home, and any questions or concerns that came up in the process of the cat sitting visits. Perhaps best of all, your sitter will send you pictures of your kitty and possibly, videos of us playing with your cat during visits as well! Our industry-leading pet sitting app conveniently allows these to be sent as a push notification on your phone or via email. Given that these updates are stored securely in our system, you can review them anytime you want. You can even stay in constant contact with your sitter by corresponding directly with them in the app anytime you like. All this also gives you the peace of mind that your cat sitter is arriving each day and staying engaged with your cat.
Can you administer medication to my cat?
We are more-than-willing to help with caring for your cat’s special needs. Many of our cat care professionals are very skilled in administering the various types of cat medications your fur baby might require (ointments, pills, injections, oral liquids, inhalers, eye drops, etc.). We do NOT charge extra fees for cat medication administration. However, service availability depends primarily on the temperament of your cat. Due to the possible serious complications of missed doses, we only accept non-aggressive and social cats since we must be able to guarantee access to your cat in order to administer medications 100% of the time. Therefore, please let us know if this is a need you (and your cat!) have when requesting our services so we can discuss your situation further and see if we can help you out.
What happens if there is an emergency and my cat requires medical attention?
We are committed to the safety and well-being of your cat. Should your cat become sick or injured, your sitter will first try contacting you to discuss the appropriate course of action for the protection, health, and safety of your cat. If they cannot immediately reach you, the sitter will take your cat to the nearest emergency vet hospital immediately and contact you at the ASAP to discuss the situation. The sitter will always be in continuous contact with you in these types of situations.
Will you care for my cat if they tend to be aggressive with strangers?
It is extremely important that you notify us when requesting our services if your cat has a history of aggression or if you have any reason to believe that they may bite, snap, or intentionally harm our sitter. We are usually unable to care for such cats as it jeopardizes the safety of our sitters. While we are experienced with many different kinds of cats and their individual demeanors, we are not behaviorists and strongly urge owners of such cats to seek the opinion of a professional cat behaviorist. We reserve the right to refuse service if a cat shows any form of human-aggression towards our sitter at the meet and greet.
